Truckee is a city of approximately 15,000 residents in northern California near the Nevada border. Situated high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at an elevation over 5,800 feet, Truckee is located thirty miles west of Reno, Nevada.

It is the largest town in the Sierra Nevadas along Interstate 80 and is located one hundred miles east of California's capital city, Sacramento. Truckee has great access to world–class ski areas such as Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows and Northstar At Tahoe. The north end of spectacular Lake Tahoe is only about a twenty minute drive south from Truckee. As of 2009, the median home price in Truckee was over $500,000.
